It will take only 10 minutes to make an unripe avocado ripe and soft. Use this trick to make a delicious salad, sandwich or snack from almost any fruit.
Ideally tender, almost creamy avocado will be a decoration of any recipe or an excellent independent delicacy. But the same cannot be said about an unripe hard avocado, which does not taste like a ripe one at all.
There are many ways to speed up the ripening process of those or other fruits, including a 10-minute trick that can be used in critical cases if you brought an unripe avocado from the store and the cooking process has already started.
Alas, these fruits are far from cheap, and they are often thrown away because they become soft too quickly. On the other hand, it is often possible to cut an avocado and find out that the degree of its ripeness is not the same as it might have seemed at first. And if you don’t have the opportunity to wait a few days until the fruit ripens, use this hack.
You will need oven and foil. Start by heating the oven to 90-95 degrees Celsius. Wrap your chosen avocado in the middle of a piece of foil, tightly covering all its parts. Put the wrapped avocado in a baking dish and put it in a preheated oven.
The heating process gently releases the gas surrounding the fruit and helps to speed up the ripening process.
About 10 minutes later, you can take the baking sheet out of the oven, protecting your hands with special gloves (keep in mind that you may need a little more time, depending on how hard the fruit is initially).
Then you can put the avocado on the grill for cooling. The fruit should still be covered with tin foil. Allow it to cool completely, removing the foil only when the fruit is completely cooled. Carefully cut the avocado in half, remove the stone and enjoy a salad, sandwich or any other dish with this ingredient.
This method is suitable for slightly unripe avocados, but not for completely firm ones. For inedible hard fruits, there is another life hack, you will need an apple, a paper bag and an extra 72 hours of time (sometimes the process can move faster).
Place the avocado in a paper bag together with the apple. Pierce the tiny holes in the paper bag with a toothpick or a pin and let the bag lie on the table at room temperature. Apples can accelerate the ripening of other fruits because they produce ethylene, known as the fruit ripening hormone, which accelerates the ripening of nearby fruits. In the course of three days, you should get a delicious creamy avocado, ready for consumption.
