Steven Spielberg refuses to rad the names of the Oscar winners during practice
Steven Spielberg admitted to being somewhat superstitious in regards to the Oscars. At the rehearsal for the 96th annual Academy Awards on Saturday, March 9, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the 77-year-old director declined to disclose the name of the fictitious winner written inside his envelope.
Despite being reassured by a production team member, Spielberg opted not to tempt fate by mentioning any nominees during the run-through of the presentation.
According to Entertainment Tonight, he stated that he would not do it because it brings bad luck.
On Sunday, the film received nominations for a total of seven awards, which included Best Actor (Cooper) and Best Actress (Carey Mulligan). Following the announcement of the nominations in January, Cooper, who is 49 years old, expressed his gratitude for the acknowledgment of one of the most prestigious accolades in Hollywood.
In a statement, Cooper stated, “We are extremely grateful to be recognized alongside these remarkable works of art this year. The performances from every actor, whom I deeply admire, have been outstanding.”
He further extended his thanks to Jamie, Alex, and Nina Bernstein for allowing their parents’ story to be shared with the world, and expressed his appreciation to the Academy. Cooper emphasized, “We feel incredibly honored to be included.”
