The doctor recommended to include some foods in the diet during the cold weather
In the cold season, it is worth adjusting the diet, said gastroenterologist Anastasia Chizhikova. In a conversation with RIAMO, he mentioned the principles that should be followed when choosing a diet.
According to shantnews, Chizhikova warned that in autumn and winter, a person needs carbohydrates to maintain the optimal level of heat exchange, and vitamin D, the lack of which leads to a decrease in the production of “hormones of happiness” – serotonin and dopamine. Monitoring levels of magnesium, chromium and B vitamins are also important during the cold season.
The doctor recommended adding two foods rich in these microelements to the diet. In particular, he suggested eating dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, because cocoa beans contain magnesium, chromium, B vitamins, as well as a large amount of tryptophan, which is a precursor of serotonin.
In addition, tryptophan, magnesium, group B vitamins and other useful microelements are found in large quantities in dairy products, especially cheese, as well as meat, fish, legumes, nuts, caviar.
He recommended replacing sweet snacks with dried fruits, fresh fruits and berries, vegetables (for example, slices of carrot, celery or cucumber with olive oil or yogurt sauce), natural yogurt with the addition of fresh or frozen berries, nuts, honey.
