Coffee improves brain function and prolongs life

According to Inc , a study conducted by Johns Hopkins University found that giving study participants a caffeine pill was correlated with better performance on memory tests. “We’ve always known that caffeine improves cognitive function,” said the lead author.

Another large study of almost 500,000 British adults found that those who drank at least two to three cups of coffee a day were “about 10-15% less likely to die.”

A Canadian study found that phenylindanes, a chemical produced during the roasting process of coffee, stopped the accumulation of two toxic proteins in the brain that are linked to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. “Coffee consumption does have some correlation with reduced risk,” said one of the study authors.

Another study looked at the habits of nearly 350,000 people and found that those who drank a lot of coffee were 30% less likely to die from any cause than those who did not drink the drink.

Additionally, a study commissioned by the American Heart Association found that the risk of heart failure or stroke decreased by 8% for every additional cup of coffee per day.
