The artist died Tuesday night of a heart attack “peacefully” at his home in Los Angeles, his publicist Jeff Abraham said.
In April 2023, Richard revealed that he had Parkinson’s disease.
Lewis first appeared on “The John Carson Tonight Show” in 1974, becoming the main character of the comedy.
On screen, Lewis played himself for years in Curb Your Enthusiasm alongside his friend Larry David.
In the 1980s, as her television career flourished, Lewis also moved into acting, starring opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in the sitcom Everything But Love.
