Ariana Grande has officially bid farewell to her Wicked character, Glinda. On January 25, the 30-year-old singer shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram, seemingly confirming the conclusion of her filming for the upcoming movies.
While she remained hidden behind a white curtain in her costume, she captioned the silhouette snapshot with “like a handprint on my heart.”
Following the share, Ariana’s massive fan base, totaling 380 million followers, flooded the comments with reactions. “Love this so much!” expressed one admirer, while another added, “Not prepared for the year we are about to have.” The first movie in the series is set for release on November 27, featuring not only Ariana but also her boyfriend, Ethan Slater, 31.
Although initially unclear whether Ariana had finished filming, director Jon M. Chu took to his Instagram Story to pen a farewell letter to Ari’s character. “Will never forget my year with our Galinda.
Can’t wait for you to meet her,” he shared in a repost of Ari’s photo. Ariana later reshared the post, expressing gratitude for her time on the Wicked set.
In the repost, Ariana gave a shoutout to her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, stating, “I will never forget even a minute of my year(s) with her either.” She also expressed appreciation for Jon, thanking him for leading with “compassion, openness, brilliance, and kindness.”
This update from the Grammy winner follows her recent song release. Ariana dropped “Yes, And?” on January 12, celebrating its debut at number one on Billboard. In a January 22 Instagram post, she expressed deep emotion and gratitude to her fans for their love. Ariana also confirmed the release date of her album, “eternal sunshine,” scheduled for March 8.
