Sushi cake is a salad made from typical Japanese roll ingredients.
Sushi cake is an unusual layered salad made from ingredients typical of Japanese rolls. If you can’t or don’t have time to roll rolls, you will definitely like this simple dish. In the salad, you can replace or add any ingredients typical of Japanese dishes: crab sticks, omelette, shrimp, chuka seaweed.
Sushi cake with red fish and avocado
Ingredients :
- round rice – 200 g;
- water – 350 g;
- rice vinegar – 50 ml;
- salt – 1 teaspoon;
- sugar – 2 tablespoons;
- red fish – 200 g;
- holes – 2 sheets;
- cucumbers – 1 pc.;
- soft cream cheese – 180 g;
- avocado – 1 pc.;
- sesame – 2 tablespoons
Rinse the rice under running water at least 5 times. Pour water over rice and bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce the heat to medium and cook the rice for 15 minutes. Rice should be cooked with the lid closed and the grains should not be stirred until the end of cooking. After cooking, turn off the heat and leave the rice in the pan with the lid closed for another 15 minutes.
Lightly heat the rice vinegar in the microwave and dissolve the salt and sugar in it. Pour this sauce over the rice and stir evenly. Cut the nori sheets into small squares, avocados and cucumbers into thin slices. It is worth peeling cucumbers if they are bitter. Cut the fish into thin pieces.
After this, you can start assembling the salad. It is more convenient to do this using a forming ring.
First, place half of the nori pieces tightly so that there are no gaps between them. Then add half of the rice. Spread half of the cream cheese evenly over the rice. Then add the cucumbers and lightly salt them. Sprinkle cucumbers with sesame seeds. Then add a layer of avocado. Then repeat the layers of nori, rice and cheese again. Place the last layer of red fish and sprinkle the salad with sesame seeds.
Place the sushi cake in the refrigerator for a couple of hours so that it is well soaked. After this, the salad should be easily cut into portions.
