How to cook spinach: 3 amazing recipes

Spinach is low in calories, and you can make more than just smoothies from it.

Spinach is one of the healthiest leaf vegetables. It’s easy to prepare, delicious in almost any combination, and also very low in calories. Try making at least one of these recipes with spinach – you will fall in love with this green.

Spinach pkhali

One of the simplest and brightest recipes of Georgian cuisine. The appetizer is prepared very quickly.

To prepare you will need:

  • spinach – 300 g;
  • walnuts – 50 g;
  • garlic – 2 cloves;
  • cilantro – a bunch;
  • salt – to taste;
  • ground red pepper – to taste;
  • ground coriander – to taste;
  • khmeli-suneli – to taste;
  • lemon juice – to taste;
  • pomegranate seeds – for decoration.

Boil the spinach for a minute in boiling water, drain in a colander and rinse with cold water. Squeeze with your hands to remove the liquid. Grind spinach, cilantro, nuts and garlic in a blender. Salt, add spices and lemon juice. Stir – you should get a homogeneous mass. Form it into balls slightly larger than a walnut. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.

Salad with spinach, apples and cheese with mustard dressing

A light salad can be prepared as a snack – although it is low in calories, it satisfies well. And the taste is not at all dietary.

To prepare you will need:

  • spinach – 300 g;
  • apples – 2 pcs.;
  • red onion – 1/2 pcs.;
  • walnuts – 50 g;
  • feta – 100-150 g;
  • vegetable oil – 80 ml;
  • lemon juice – to taste;
  • Dijon mustard – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • garlic – 1 clove;
  • salt – to taste;
  • ground black pepper – to taste;
  • honey – 1 tbsp. l.

Core the apples, cut the fruit into thin slices and sprinkle with lemon juice. Chop the onion into thin half rings. Mix spinach, apples, onions, nuts, crumble 1/2 of the cheese.

Prepare the dressing: mix oil, lemon juice, mustard, chopped garlic, salt, pepper and honey.

Pour the dressing over the salad, toss and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

Turkey Meatballs with Spinach

The dish is healthy in all respects. Turkey is dietary and an excellent source of protein; if desired, it can be replaced with chicken, and take frozen spinach.

To prepare you will need:

  • frozen spinach – 300 g;
  • minced turkey or chicken – 450 g;
  • egg – 1 pc.;
  • onion – 1/4 pcs.;
  • garlic – 1 clove;
  • breadcrumbs – 100 g;
  • salt – to taste;
  • ground black pepper – to taste;
  • vegetable oil.

Thaw spinach and squeeze to remove excess liquid. Chop the onion and pass the garlic through a press. Mix the greens with the egg, minced meat, onion, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Form into balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 200°C for 20 minutes.
