The 96th edition of the prestigious “Oscar” awards ceremony was held in Hollywood, where outstanding achievements in the world of cinema from the previous year were recognized and celebrated.
As anticipated, Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece “Oppenheimer” emerged victorious, securing the coveted title of “Best Film,” while the talented Cillian Murphy was honored with the esteemed “Best Actor” award.
Emma Stone’s exceptional performance in “Poor Things” earned her the well-deserved accolade of Best Actress. Christopher Nolan, the brilliant director behind “Oppenheimer,” was rightfully bestowed with the Best Director award. In total, “Oppenheimer” triumphed with an impressive tally of 7 awards.
Another remarkable film, “The Zone of Interest” directed by Jonathan Glazer, was acclaimed as the “Best International Film.” DeWine Joy Randolph’s outstanding portrayal in “The Holdovers” earned her the title of Best Supporting Actress, while Robert Downey Jr.’s remarkable performance in “Oppenheimer” secured him the Best Actor award in the same category.
The award for Best Original Song was presented to Billie Eilish for her captivating composition, “What Was I Made For,” featured in the enchanting film “Baribi.”
The grand event took place at the renowned Dolby Theater, serving as a magnificent backdrop for the celebration of cinematic excellence. Notably, this year marked a significant milestone for Armenia, as the film “American” by Michael Gurjian and Arman Nshanyan made it to the shortlist of the highly esteemed “Best Foreign Film” category for the first time.
Although it did not secure a spot among the top five, it showcased Armenia’s growing presence and contribution to the global film industry.
